By the time Moore graduates with a bachelor's degree in May, the criminal justice major will have been working as a deputy corrections officer for the Saginaw County Sheriff's Department at the Saginaw County Jail for two years.

Eight SVSU students are involved in a new fellowship program hoping to improve the perception of Saginaw. Members of the inaugural class of SVSU's Richard V. Wolohan Fellowship in Leadership and Service -- all graduates of Saginaw County high schools -- began meeting in fall 2014. They have spoken with leaders in Saginaw and Washington, D.C., and now have begun planning a campaign aimed at bolstering their home community's image.

In all, 479 students from Saginaw Valley State University were named to the President's List for the fall 2014 semester. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must take at least 12 credit hours and earn a 4.0 grade point average.

In all, 2,041 students from Saginaw Valley State University were named to the Deans' List for the fall 2014 semester. To be eligible for the Deans' List, a student must take at least 12 credit hours and carry a semester GPA of 3.4 or better.

As part of the approval process, the students were required to meet program eligibility criteria. This includes collaboration with a SVSU Career Services advisor to develop a professional resume and cover letter. This may also involve additional training in the skills necessary to successfully transition from the classroom to the workplace.
