Tom Sutherland, of Carsonville, crowned SVSU 2014 Homecoming King

Tom Sutherland, of Carsonville, was named 2014 Homecoming King at Saginaw Valley State University.

Sutherland, a finance major, was honored along with Homecoming Queen Bethany Thrun, a nursing major from Garden City.

The king and queen were announced at halftime of SVSU football's homecoming game against Northwood University on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The two were selected from among 10 students on the 2014 Homecoming Court, which were determined by a vote of SVSU students. Students then cast a second round of votes to determine the king and queen.

The rest of the Homecoming Court includes Rashed Aldubayyan, of Saudi Arabia; Alyssa Fitzgerald, of Gaylord; Derrek Humphries, of Flint; Leah Jording, of Saline; Kyla Kane, of Frankenmuth; Mimi Marcus, of Southfield; Matthew Walla, of Romeo; and Preston Weber, of Bronson.
