SVSU student saxophonist Nathan Swain headlines November concert

Saginaw Valley State University will showcase the musical stylings of student saxophonist Nathan Swain at the Rhea Miller Recital Hall Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be free and open to the public.

Nathan Swain of Birch Run is a fifth-year music education major at SVSU. He has performed in various ensembles at SVSU, including concert band, marching band, concert choir and saxophone quartets.

Swain has written various musical works, including some that have been published by Watchdog Music Publishers.

He is a substitute teacher for Birch Run Area Schools, and has served as both a band camp instructor and a music ambassador to other Saginaw County schools. Swain plans to graduate from SVSU in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in music education. Swain will be joined by SVSU staff member Charyl Cheger-Timm, piano, and students Anthony Roose, Autumn Zender, and Cienna Ditri on saxophone.

The concert will consist of the work of various musicians such as George F. Handel, Eugene Bozza, Maurice Ravel and Victor Morosco.
