SVSU student Jennifer Mielke, of Beaverton, presents research on environmental science and ecology at statewide conference

Saginaw Valley State University student Jennifer Mielke, a Beaverton native, presented research on environmental science and ecology at the 2014 Michigan Academy of Science, Arts and Letters annual conference.

Mielke, an international studies major, presented in front of 700 conference attendees Feb. 28 at Oakland University.

Mielke was joined by 20 SVSU classmates and 10 faculty members from the university.

Yearly, the academy conference hosts academics discussing research on a wide range of subjects including English, ecology, psychology, zoology, chemistry and law.

Next year's conference is scheduled March 13 at Andrews University in Berrien Springs.
