Saginaw Valley State University student Amy Stecker, of Sebewaing, has gained valuable experience with Caro Chamber of Commerce in an internship position.

As part of the SVSU Cooperative Education and Internship Program administered by the Office of Career Services, students such as Stecker have the opportunity to apply their academic coursework into a real-world setting. Stecker is a marketing major.

Recognized with the Community Engagement Classification by the Carnegie Foundation for Advancement of Teaching, SVSU encourages students to pursue practical experience. By their senior year, 84 percent of SVSU students have engaged with community employers and agencies in internships, field placements or some other component of their academic preparation.
