SVSU Student, Kerri Vasold, Awarded Funding through the Student Research and Creative Institute

2013 Apr 15

Kerri Vasold, an Kinesiology major from Shepherd, Mich., was awarded funding through the Students Research and Creative Institute for her research at Saginaw Valley State University. Vasold was chosen to receive $5,200.00 to study whether wearing an activity monitor affects how often people exercise.

Nine students pursuing scientific research projects received funding from Saginaw Valley State University's Grace A. and Herbert H. Dow Student Research and Creativity Institute. Grants were awarded to six projects for research on such topics as cancer, calculus, and the psychology behind exercise habits.

Any SVSU student may submit a proposal to receive financial support for research or other creative endeavors. Each student project is eligible to receive up to $10,000. All student submissions must be sponsored by an SVSU faculty or staff member. Students serve as the primary researcher, author or creative agent for each project but are guided by SVSU faculty and staff.
