Mike Wells Jr., of Delaware, Ohio, named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week

SVSU senior guard Mike Wells Jr. has been named the GLIAC South Divsiion Player of the Week after his stellar performance in leading the Cardinals to a pair of wins, running their winning streak to three games.

Wells Jr. had a huge weekend in leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 record with home victories over Ashland and Tiffin. Wells Jr. averaged 27.0 ppg, adding 5.0 apg and 3.0 rpg as SVSU now has three straight wins. The highlight of the weekend was Wells's career-high 35 point performance in Thursday's win over the Eagles, where he went for 31 points in the second half, scoring 21 straight for Saginaw Valley in leading them to the victory over the division leaders.

Saginaw Valley hosts Northwood University on Saturday (Jan. 27) in another home matchup, which will tip-off at 6:00 p.m. at O'Neill Arena.
