Madison Martin, Bay City native, receives writing award at SVSU

Saginaw Valley State University student Madison Martin, a undecided major from Bay City was recently recognized at the Robert S. P. Yien First Year Writing Awards at SVSU on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Martin composed an essay titled "Infinite Stories = An Infinite Future” and was recognized as the First Place Essay in the English 111 Category of the event. The essay was judged by a panel of faculty members in the Department of English as well as the First Year Writing Coordinator.

Nominees for the award were students who took an introductory English Course and for the first time recognized students who took English as a Second Language and demonstrated exceptional writing talent in the composition of their nominated essay produced during the fall semester at SVSU.

The various essay topics in the category touched on personal experience, research topics and current issues in sports and popular culture.
