Kaitlyn Richard, of Center Line, featured in SVSU's 'Music Majors Recital'

Kaitlyn Richard, of Center Line, performed in the Saginaw Valley State University Department of Music's "Music Majors Recital" Monday, March 30.

The concert was held in the Rhea Miller Recital Hall on the campus of SVSU. The event took place at 3 p.m. and saw a vast array of performances from piano to vocal, clarinet, trumpet flute and saxophone.

Richard, a a music education major presented a flute performance for audiences. The recital was also a part of the review process for SVSU's reaccreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music.

The recital included performances from 18th, 19th, and 20th century composers alike, ranging from classical masterpieces including Mozart's "Andante in C Major," and "Bester Jungling," from Der Schauspieldirektor, Franz Schubert's "Der Tod und das Madchen" and "March in D Major" by Johann Sebastian Bach, to contemporary saxophone pieces like Christian Lauba's "Steady Study on the Boogie."

The concert provided an opportunity for music and music education majors at SVSU to display their talents as musicians, while providing entertainment that was free and open to the public.
