Cody Priestley, of McMillan, among 28 SVSU mechanical engineering students featured in senior design symposium

2014 Dec 5

Nine projects put together by 28 Saginaw Valley State University students will be on display during the mechanical engineering senior design symposium Friday, Dec. 5 in Pioneer Hall.

Cody Priestley, of McMillan, designed the project "General Motors Saginaw Engine Block Quench Tank Sand Removal."

Priestley, a mechanical engineering major, worked on the project with fellow SVSU students Trevor Barkiewicz and Michael Vogtmann.

All mechanical engineering students are required to have a company sponsor their project and must complete a working prototype in order to graduate.

Companies sponsoring products at the symposium were Acra Cast, Teamtech Motorsports, General Motors, Nexteer Automotive, Duro-Last Commercial Roofing System Company, Fullerton Tool and the Saginaw Bay Environmental Science Institute at SVSU.

Students will display their projects -- some in the design phase, others completed -- from 10 a.m. to noon in Pioneer Hall's south lobby.
