Chad Koch, Gagetown native, receives statewide residence hall award for SVSU

2014 Feb 27

Chad Koch, an English education major from Gagetown, was among nine Saginaw Valley State University student leaders to attend the 2014 Michigan Organization of Residence Hall Association Conference at Grand Valley State University.

SVSU's delegation brought home three awards on Saturday, Feb. 22. Those included Best Banner, Resident Assistant of the Year for Samantha Domagala, and Outstanding National Residence Hall Honorary Chapter of the Year.

"Our chapter was recognized for doing outstanding things for students," Alexandra Straley, an SVSU resident director, said of the Outstanding National Residence Hall Honorary Chapter of the Year award. "We're one of the smallest chapters (at the conference), so that was a big deal."

SVSU was one of the founding universities and colleges to join the Michigan Organization of Residence Hall Associations in 1979. Today, there are 10 institutions involved including the University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Central Michigan University.
